We booked 3 beds in a 4‑bed premium dorm. We were put in a “basic” dorm because there was no space in the premium one, we weren’t refunded and no solution was offered. In that dorm there was mold everywhere, with a strong damp smell. The floor was wet, proving they don’t clean once a day. All our belongings were damp and smelled bad after the stay. The cost is excessive for the service provided.

The only good thing I can say about this place is that the Burmese cleaning staff were very nice. 1. The rooms aren’t by the beach as advertised; they’re on the main street. The bass from the loud music of the famous drag show literally rocks my room while I type. Street noise is unbearable until 3 AM. 2. The AC is just a fan, it doesn’t cool at all. 3. Ants, moths, mosquitoes, lizards everywhere. 4. Water pressure is extremely low, making it impossible to shower and the toilet barely flushes. 5. The reception staff dismissed my complaints and basically ignored me, pretending not to understand. Using a translation app I kindly asked them to cancel my remaining nights. They said it’s not possible.

There are very few positives, but the location is the best thing about this hostel, right on Sairee beach and in the centre of Koh Tao’s town with a 7/11 close by. The WiFi was great and there was a pool I didn’t expect, which was really nice with sun beds and free towels for hostel guests. After staying in hostels for 3 months this is probably the worst I’ve stayed in – the 4‑bed dorm really lacks privacy with no curtains on the beds. The lockers can’t lock, so there’s no security. The bathroom was very smelly, the shower poor, and I had to ask basically every day for toilet paper as it was hardly ever replenished. The beds are uncomfortable and there are no plug sockets near the bed; with the lack of privacy, hanging out in the room is not really an option – and there’s also no common area, just some inadequate seats in reception with the staff. I suppose it is a fine price for a great location in Koh Tao, but you definitely get what you pay for here.

The location was great, but the cleanliness and noise were disappointing.
