The Cranky Croc Hostel

“An Absolute Gem in Bogota!”

Cranky Crocs Hostel is one of the best stops on my Colombian trip. The wooden interior and beautiful courtyard give it so much charm, and I especially loved the glass ceiling in the sitting area – watching the rain fall through it gives you a wonderful, philosophical feeling. The amenities are great: plenty of workspace, comfortable beds, and they actually give you two pillows (a total luxury for a hostel!). There are plenty of clean toilets and hot showers throughout the building, so you never have to worry about waking anyone up early in the morning. Their cafe is excellent too—don't miss the espresso! Location-wise, it’s close to everything: transport, restaurants, cafes, and within 400 m to a few kilometers of downtown museums (Hold Museum, Botero Museum) and the Monserrate station. It’s the perfect balance of a relaxed atmosphere and a highly positive vibe. The staff truly embody a “smiling and helpful” attitude. Special thanks to Catalina, morning shift girl, the wonderful lady in the cafe, and the gentleman working midnight—you all went above and beyond. I’ll definitely stay here again next time I’m in Bogotá! The only constructive suggestion is that internet speed in other parts of the hostel is very slow or no connection; a few Google Mesh routers could solve the issue.

“great hostel in La Candelaria”

This hostel was excellent: the location was good, security solid, staff attentive, common areas nice, there was a guest kitchen and a cafe‑bar. The single‑bed dorm was comfy and quiet, with a locker, a light and an outlet, but there was no airflow so it got stale at night. Many eating places were nearby and it was an easy walk to the historic centre. The hostel should have a checklist so every staff member gives the same info about facilities; otherwise guests miss details like the multiple toilets, bar‑cafe hours, Wi‑Fi, and the guest kitchen. It was kind that bags could be left in a locked room while traveling, but there was no identification system – at least a name tag should be on the bag, and when someone wants to claim a bag they should state a name to match.

“Helpful staff, clean facilities, and good location”

I absolutely loved my stay at the hostel. The staff were super nice and helpful, the room was very clean, spacious, and looked exactly like the pictures. I used their taxi service to get to the hostel from the airport at 4am and the driver, Carlos, was very friendly and made me feel super safe. This was my first stop for my trip in Colombia and I could not be happier with it! The hostel was not super social, but it was low season so that might be why.
