Octave Vels Grand Hotel

“Good Stay and near by restaurant and bus stand”

The spacious family room was neat and clean, the bathroom was tidy, and the staff were helpful, making for a good family stay; however, the back of the hotel had a heavy exhaust fan that sounded like an industrial unit.

There were no basic facilities such as handwash, and there was confusion over whether the room was AC or non‑AC.

The rooms were unclean and the staff unprofessional, making for a very disappointing experience.

“Je reviens pour la quatrième fois”

The manager’s welcome and the proximity to long‑distance buses were appreciated.

“Excellent rapport qualité/prix”

The long‑distance bus companies were close by, the staff were friendly and smiling even after waking us at 2 a.m.; the receptionist was competent, quick, and smart; the bed was comfortable, the room and bathrooms were clean, and a bottle of water was provided. The downside was the lack of a top sheet, as is common in India, and the single blanket that had hosted dozens, even hundreds, of bodies that were more or less naked, clean, sweaty, and (sometimes) odorous—an elementary hygiene issue that Indian hotels should address.
