The spot is unreal; the surrounding nature feels untouched, a true paradise. Food is terrible and outrageously overpriced (20€ for jelly and butter toast), and the staff often fail to coordinate properly—pick‑ups are late, they forget guests at lunch, etc. There’s no hot water or hair dryer option, which is understandable given the setup.

The view is the only thing worth mentioning. The owner and manager, Louis, lied about many things: the bungalows are in bad condition, every bathroom door feels like it could break, the windows are hard to open, sheets are stained, walls have holes and stains. The first night we had no cold water in one bungalow; Louis’s reply was “Parisian nonsense.” The next day, after a sea‑soaked excursion, we were told there was no water because the pump had broken, yet no apology was offered; a staff member handed us water bottles while Louis said “we’ll find a solution,” which was unsatisfactory. The place is very noisy from wind on the palms. Food is a mess: we were served “fresh coconuts” at arrival, but the coconut water was fizzy, as if it had sat in the sun too long. Breakfast costs 20€ per person and consists of a few crackers, pancakes, Nutella, butter, jam, a fruit juice, and a small jug of milk for five people. Dinner is also mandatory at 33€ per person for mediocre cuisine, though the chef, Tania, is kind and tries to cook with limited supplies. Transfers are a boat ride from the island to the main village for excursions.

The beach is nice but exposed to wind, so we didn’t even swim, let alone snorkel or canoe. The place was a disaster to stay at—poor maintenance, misleading description, and the “airport transfer” turned out to be a short car ride followed by an unexpected 30‑minute boat trip to a remote spot that was never mentioned before arrival. Other guests were equally unaware of this boat transfer. It felt like we were being pushed to spend more money. We left after 48 hours and booked another spot in the Avatoru area, avoiding any cancellation fees. The charged accommodation fees were unreasonable given the noisy environment, lack of air conditioning, no room cleaning, only one small water bottle on arrival with a hefty charge afterward. The return boat trip took an hour to reach the mainland. The location was too remote; we felt isolated, trapped, and pressured to spend more. Rooms couldn’t be locked, were tired, and only had two sheets and two pillows for two people. The overhead fan had no controls. The shower was subpar. We were encouraged to walk around the island for 6‑7 km. The first 40% of the beach was nice, but the back 60% was just trudging over hard coral.

We spent five wonderful days at this guest house. The new owner is very friendly, attentive, and takes excellent care of guests. We had a bungalow right on the sea, the kind of South Sea you imagine as a European. Snorkeling at the reef was simply fantastic! The food was excellent, and the staff were very friendly and attentive.
