Located in Lake Wales, Florida, Westgate River Ranch Resort & Rodeo features a rock climbing wall, zip line, and mechanical bull. Guests can enjoy horseback riding, miniature golf, and a river boat ride, or attend a live rodeo every Thursday and Saturday night. On-site amenities include a petting zoo, full bar, and general store with deli, as well as rooms with microwave, refrigerator, and screened-in patio.

Bugs and cockroaches crawled in the corners of the room, and when the bed was wet the bark made a mess of the bedding—definitely not suitable for little ones in glamping tents. The staff were helpful and tried to improve our stay, but if you dislike bugs or dirt, avoid the tents.

The few days were the most incredible and fun—a truly unique experience, though the restaurants weren’t all open, limiting food options, probably because we were staying out of season.

The room was spacious, comfortable, and very clean. The ranch offers many activities to enjoy during the stay. The pool and water park are free, as is the farm visit and some kids’ games. Horseback riding or pony rides cost extra. The rodeo (paid) was a unique and very fun experience. The kids were fully engaged and loved the show. One small point to consider: the dance that follows the rodeo takes place near some rooms, so the noise might be a bit annoying for those who want to rest early.

We came for a few days on our Florida trip, and that day really did us a world of good with everything the kids needed to have fun.
