The only thing worth mentioning is the location. The check‑in was supposed to be until 00:00, but I managed to stand outside at 23:40 after a detour that left me lost in the ring road. No one was there to check me in, the voicemail said only WhatsApp works, so I sent a message with my room number and the front door code. Two minutes later I got a reply: “PP Im Ruhrgezsteht das für persönliches Pech, was ist das für eine Art und Weise?” The building looks like a construction site from the outside, and inside it’s barely furnished, no towels, no toilet paper, no spare roll—pictures prove it. The price is low for two people, but if you can’t even get in, it’s pointless, and the staff who sent the WhatsApp reply seemed uninterested. If I hadn’t found the back door key by chance, I’d have had to sleep in my car at 3 °C. There was no hot water, no heating, and the whole place was freezing. The local hostels in the Ruhr area are a lot better, and this place is not worth another stay, even though they still get paid. Nighttime was noisy too—at 1:00, 2:30, and 3:00, people of foreign origin came into the building and probably ruckus from a village festival, so I couldn’t sleep. The windows were taped with garbage bags to block light, a makeshift curtain. The only positives were the two Knoppers on the beds and the really cheap price.
