“A new guesthouse outside the city of Shillong that is in need of better trained staff”

The guesthouse, a newer building on the upper floors, offered reasonably sized rooms and a clean bathroom. Because the room was cold, we requested an electric heater and the front office supplied one. Dinner and breakfast were decent. However, upon arrival we were hit with loud construction noise from the floor above that persisted late into the evening despite the front desk’s reassurances. The staff tried to bill us for a second room we had cancelled well before the cut‑off. The guesthouse has no dining room, so meals are served in the rooms. Although breakfast was included in the room rate, we were unexpectedly charged for coffee and a water bottle—items that were complimentary at other places we stayed in Meghalaya. We were told only tea was included with breakfast. At checkout we suggested adding an electric kettle to the rooms, as is common elsewhere, but were told kettles were only available if guests specifically requested them.
