“A welcoming budget stay”

The rooms lacked the musty odor you often find in budget places, and the sleeping area stayed surprisingly quiet despite the noisy surroundings. The host was welcoming and the place had a nice atmosphere. The bathroom had a really unpleasant odour, and the streets and neighbours outside were noisy.

Everything was great, the pool was very pleasant, the manager was accommodating and very friendly. Breakfast was very good :)

“Really disappointing - in Sri Lanka for a month and it spolit the end of our trip.”

The location was okay – a few minutes walk to the beach and restaurants, etc. Cleanliness was very grubby. One shower had a rotten floor, a big crack in the bath, mould on the walls, damaged plaster, dust and hair on the floor, even though we had to wait for the room to be cleaned. One bathroom had holes around the sink where new taps had been installed that weren't the same as the old ones – instead of replacing or repairing the holes, the surround was just left. It was full of mosquitoes – downstairs doors always open, our balcony door didn’t close/lock. Lighting was very dim, which added to the feeling of grubbiness. It looked good in the pictures, and the two rooms we booked were very spacious, but it has obviously been left to slowly fall apart. One of our rooms had a small kitchen area with holes in the worktop to accommodate new wiring, etc. A real shame, as I imagine it was lovely 6+ years ago – when most of the dates on the walls were from.
