Sani Valley Nature Lodges

We had booked the Sani Valley Nature Lodges mainly for their perfect spot to join a guided tour to the Sani Pass and stayed for two nights. We were housed in Lodge Early Mist 1 and could watch elk, hartebeest, eland antelope, and zebras from our terrace; ornithologists would also find it rewarding. In a short time we spotted many waterbirds, including spoonbills, ibises, and a pair of South African crowned cranes. The staff and management were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The lodge was excellently equipped and kept in very tidy, clean condition. The dinner served in the holiday apartment was freshly prepared and very tasty. Two nights were clearly not enough; we would love to stay longer. Thanks to Marge and Dave for a wonderful time—we’ll definitely return!

“in the heart of nature”

The lodge sits in the middle of nature, beside a small lake, and from the window you can see a meadow with zebras, antelopes, and many birds. We ordered dinner for both nights and the meals were delivered to our room and were delicious. Breakfast was served at the boathouse and was very nice. It’s a comfortable base for a trip through the Sani Pass via Sunny Pass. We arrived on a particularly rainy day and the access road was tough; part of the way is actually on a dam.

“WHAT A WOW!”

Everything was amazing—just as beautiful as the pictures, with breathtaking views and nature. The staff were humble and helpful. After hiking on day one we realized we could drive our hatchback to get a closer look at the animals. We had planned to visit in 2012 for our honeymoon and it’s great we finally checked it off our list. We’ll come back soon with our kids. Leaving the place was heartbreaking.

“Weekend full of snow”

The place was clean, the location was great, the scenery was breathtaking, the staff were very helpful, and the animals were a highlight.

The location, the spaciousness of the secured area, the friendliness and advice of the staff, the culinary services, the fabulous accommodation in a chalet facing a lake, the direct contact with nature and wildlife, and the view from our lodging were all outstanding.
