The location is very handy for visiting Fort Drum. The carpet was dirty, dusty, and had a bad odor; cigarette smoke lingered strongly, and the hallway smelled noticeably. Cleanliness overall was very poor, especially when compared to on‑post lodging at that price.

The bed was fine. The noise from the floor above was excessive. The hotel lacks good inter‑floor structure. Room cleaning was lacking and the facilities feel extremely old.

“Good, but not good enough, better opinions?”

Pets are allowed and it’s clean enough. I didn’t get the double queen I booked; instead I got a single with a roll‑away, which was very uncomfortable. Candlewood is the only place I’d pay a non‑refundable pet deposit ($50) for, mainly because of the dog. The bathroom tub is very slippery for an elderly father—put a towel down to prevent slipping.

“Pleasant stay”

This is our fourth stay here. The place stays clean and the staff is very pleasant. It’s our go‑to when we visit the area.
