“Un’esperienza fantastica: con una nota decisamente stonata”
We spent a wonderful time in Marrakech at Riad 72, and overall the days were truly splendid. The riad itself is very pleasant, and we were especially impressed by the kindness, availability, and authenticity of most of the Moroccan staff, which made the stay special. A big shout‑out to Alessandro, the Italian‑Egyptian head chef: a very friendly, spontaneous, and genuinely helpful guy who made us feel welcomed right away. That’s the kind of attitude you expect from a property of this level. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about the director, Stefania. Her demeanor often felt artificial, constructed, and lacking authenticity, with smiles that seemed forced, tones that were overly staged, and facial expressions that left us feeling uneasy and insufficient. When we told her about the restaurants and places we had booked, some of her reactions seemed almost disapproving, as if our choices were below par. Another episode that left us perplexed involved the return transfer. For a difference of just 4 minutes, we were asked to move the departure from 8:00 to 7:50, which seemed an excessive rigidity aimed at making us pay an extra fee. We found that management to be inflexible and not client‑focused, especially considering the stay should have ended peacefully. There’s also a detail worth mentioning: at the beginning of August, in anticipation of our October stay, I personally contacted Stefania for some information about the property. It’s a pity because Riad 72 has many elements that could offer a memorable experience, and the rest of the staff, especially Alessandro, perfectly embody that spirit. The feeling is that the director completely clashes with the riad’s atmosphere: where we found warmth, spontaneity, and availability in the daily staff, with her we felt coldness, formality, and an attitude that, at least in our case, didn’t make us feel comfortable.
