We stayed in a charming rustic old house that felt very historic, and the breakfast the next morning was excellent. The garden was beautiful, and the owners were friendly and helpful when we arrived at night. Pet friendly was a plus, and the warm pets were nice. Having towels for swimming and bathing was a thoughtful touch. The only downside was that we had to drive the farm road at night because we arrived late; it would have been better to arrive earlier. I also wish the owners had told me ahead of time that I needed to let them know before a certain time if I wanted dinner prepared, because I found out too late and had to find dinner elsewhere in town, which delayed our arrival. They apologized and we appreciated that, but other guests should ask for dinner the morning before arrival.

The farm was peaceful and surrounded by quiet nature, and there were no negatives to mention.

The old house had a great vibe and the beds were comfy, especially with electric blankets. I could make coffee and tea in my room, and the hosts were friendly and personable. The place was pet‑friendly and a solid spot for a night’s stop between Gauteng and the coast. However, the online price for two in the twin room was listed as R968. I initially booked for one (R572) and later added my partner after he flew in from JHB to drive back with me following my mom’s funeral; the host charged an extra R650 for him. In total we paid R1222 for the night—just twin beds, no breakfast, and a shared bathroom with other guests—which left a sour taste. They have a strict no‑refund policy, so the only way to bring my partner was to add him on, not to try to save on the host commission by paying separately. I’ve never seen such a price gap between one and two people in the same room before; it felt like the business model aimed at maximizing income from a single stay rather than fostering repeat guests. The shared bathroom wasn’t a deal breaker, but other guests using it at night disrupted our sleep, so maybe a room farther from the shared bathroom would have been better.

The spot was spot‑on, just off the N9, easy to locate yet still feeling wonderfully secluded. Surrounded by gorgeous nature, there were plenty of hiking trails to explore. The peaceful, quiet setting made it the perfect place to relax, unwind, and reconnect with nature.
