Hotel Galerij is situated between Herengracht and Keizersgracht Canals, near The Anne Frank House. The hotel features 24-hour reception and continental breakfast. Rooms accommodate up to 4 people, with telephone connections, shared or private shower facilities. The Dam Square tram stop is 500 metres away, with direct connections to Museum Square. Restaurants and bars are nearby.

I had absolutely nothing good about this place – it was horrible. The manager’s welcome at arrival was deplorable. The reception is located atop more than 50 ultra‑vertical steps, impossible for older people, of course. The room was really dirty and smelled bad, to be polite. The staff and the booking manager lacked tact, refusing to answer when I asked why they hadn’t cancelled the reservation, yet they agreed to change the date at a price that doubled the room rate – utterly ridiculous. I don’t understand how an hotel can be listed on a site without any control at that level. There was only one power outlet near the room door. A torn towel was provided. The room faced a back courtyard full of trash and the air‑conditioning was ultra‑noisy, like a parked truck. On top of that, you still have to climb another floor to reach the shower. For 80€ that is truly aberrant, I think. #a_fuire Normal people would just leave and book elsewhere after seeing such an arrangement and a room like the one I had. Also, they ask for more money at the front desk even though my reservation states that EVERYTHING IS PAID AND THAT I HAVE NO ADDITIONAL FEES. Look closely at my photos and you’ll change your mind quickly. It’s frankly shameful.

The place is only good for its location. There are loads of narrow stairs with no warning; it should say it’s not suitable for older people or those with mobility issues. A dirty towel was left in the room. It advertises a private shower room but there is no toilet and no toiletries until you climb all the stairs. It’s completely mis‑sold and should be avoided.
