“Altes Hotel mit sehr viel Charme”

The hotel has an old‑style feel with ceiling beams, deer antlers, etc., and it feels very cozy. We liked the food. It also fits well with this place full of timber‑frame houses. The reception and service were very friendly.

The hotel’s location is good for outings and hikes. The rooms have the charm you expect in the Harz and are appropriately functional. The restaurant has a small selection of dishes, but they are very, very tasty. The staff is friendly and competent. The little cleaning elves were on the move daily and diligent (thanks). The rooms are a bit noisy when adjacent rooms are occupied and the bathroom is in use. Breakfast was okay – it could have had more variety and not only been served on request.

I stayed in a historic building and both the room and the downstairs area had a charming feel. However, most of the historic sites were closed, leaving us with little to do, and the owner’s greeting was initially unfriendly, though she improved the next day. Finding our room was confusing the first couple of times.

The staff were very attentive and friendly, and breakfast was plentiful, with something for everyone and constant refills. Coffee was served in kettles at the table, which was very convenient. The restaurant food was excellent and generous. The rooms were fine and spacious; ours was a bit dark, which is just my personal taste. Overall, we felt very comfortable.
