Great location, friendly staff, comfortable room; service in the bar and restaurant was very slow.

The spot was spot on – you could stroll straight to sights, shops, and eateries. The breakfast eggs, however, were disappointingly watery, tasteless, and poorly coloured.

“Amazing couldn’t recommend enough”

You couldn’t ask for a better location for this gorgeous hotel right in the town centre with beautiful surroundings and so easy to get to; decor is beautiful and the room was spotless and very spacious; breakfast was plentiful, nice, hot, and the black pudding was never so nice and soft; this will be my go‑to place when on my way home from NC500. The only downside is that I only booked one night.

The setting in the old building with a beautiful garden overlooking the Tweed was great, and the room and bathroom were spacious. A handrail on the shower would help older guests, but otherwise everything was fine. The house had a slightly odd smell, typical of an old building, and the dogs were very welcome, so there were many in the house. Kelso itself offers a lot. Unfortunately we couldn’t have breakfast on site; we arrived early and were the first in the breakfast room, but the dog area was separate because we had to leave early. Our order for hot breakfast wasn’t taken, so I had to give it to the main room staff, but there were already so many in front of us that we would have waited over half an hour. We packed the food and ate it later while on the go, but that was certainly not the same as having it nicely plated for us.
