1 single bed

“Sehr gut”
Good location and facilities. The bed sheets were a problem.
The place is stylish and clean, but the staff only said what was necessary and were very administrative. The dining space is small, and I felt uncomfortable sharing a table with strangers. There is only one washbasin, and the ladder to the bed is hard to climb and scary.
“4 Nächte mit Verlängerung”
We found a gem in Kyoto – a lovingly restored traditional house a bit off the usual tourist trail, which lets you soak up the local vibe and unwind nicely in the evenings. The surrounding area is full of great cafés and restaurants, and the garden at the property is truly special. The owners were calm and warm, making us feel right at home. I instantly knew Kyoto would be a unique destination, and the city and the inn together surpassed my expectations. I suggest renting a yukata and staying at least five nights to explore everything; hopefully we can return someday.
“😭”
One positive aspect was the opportunity to experience a traditional Kyoto machiya-style wooden building. Overall, a disappointing stay. The 4-9 PM check-in restriction was not clearly stated when we booked. If we had known that late check-in was impossible, we would not have chosen this property. We arrived at 1:30 PM to leave our luggage and asked about checking in after 9 PM or receiving the instructions in advance, but both were refused. We were told late check-in might incur a penalty, which was confusing. We changed our plans and returned at 4 PM, but were still questioned about why we had wanted to arrive after 9 PM. This created unnecessary pressure. Rules are understandable, but good hospitality should also help guests find solutions. The toilet on the first floor was inconvenient at night, and there were no Free toothbrushes. The positive point was experiencing a traditional Kyoto machiya-style wooden building and its atmosphere. The location was my own responsibility to check before booking
The place feels genuinely authentic and the location is very quiet, yet still easy to reach. The only downside is that the entire house shares a single shower and a single toilet.
