The rooms weren’t cleaned properly; there were many insects on the bed and on the floor, and the air‑con didn’t work well, making the room very warm.

Overall it was nice, the location was good, the room was well decorated and the staff were very friendly. We arrived in the evening for check‑in after a long drive, but they weren’t prepared for our arrival, were surprised, and said they hadn’t seen our booking on Booking and that the hotel was full. They told us a room would be ready in ten minutes, but it actually took over an hour and they kept leaving us in the dark, which was frustrating. The rooms were relatively clean, though the sheets and pillows had stains. The shower tap was awful and sometimes there was no hot water.

“Unpleasant stay”

First, the positives: when I asked for extras like a towel and an adapter, the staff were very attentive and brought what I needed right away. The garden is very well kept. I would not recommend staying at Ekho Weligama. The pictures don’t match the current state of the rooms or the hotel; it’s old and poorly maintained, with dirty furniture, moldy rooms, peeling paint, doors that don’t lock properly, and cockroaches. On the second night they “cleaned” the room next to mine until 2:30 am in a very loud way, even after I asked them to be quiet. The location on Google and Apple Maps is wrong; it’s actually on the very border of Weligama. The management is aware of all these issues yet still charges a rip‑off price for the rooms.

The grounds are clean, there’s a small comfortable pool, a trampoline, a large cozy bed, a spacious room, and friendly staff. There’s no hot water, breakfasts are scanty, they add sugar to the juice, the location is farther than shown on the Booking map, the air‑con remote stops working at times, the hotel feels worn out, the plumbing is rusty, there are stains, and the rooms are a bit dirty.

“Nice pool. Overpriced for the facilities”

The pool was good for the kids, but the location was completely false. They claimed it was in the centre of Weligama but it was nowhere near it.
