Casas do Cruzeiro, in Sabugueiro village, lies within Serra da Estrela National Park, 18 km from Portugal's highest point, the Tower. The accommodations, ranging from studios to 4-bedroom houses, feature air conditioning, fireplaces, and kitchenettes. Guests enjoy free WiFi, private bathrooms, and nearby skiing, cycling, and hiking. Local gastronomy and Serra da Estrela Cheese are nearby.

The location and service were good, but the house needs a decent remodel and some adjustments.

The house was clean and well‑situated, and the staff were friendly and fixed the issues we raised. However, the equipment was insufficient for eight guests, and one of the rooms was too small for a couple.

The cleanliness was exceptional, the scent of herbs from the nearby mountains filled the air, the rustic house had character, and it was a great base for exploring the Estrela mountains. The only issue was the loud bell ringing from the church just a few dozen metres away; fortunately it didn’t ring between 23:00 and 07:00, so I could sleep.
