“It's John O Groats, bleak as expected.”
The sea bass dinner was very nice and the staff were very polite and helpful. Outside our room (28) there was some kind of machinery that kept kicking in all night, making hydraulic noises, which was not nice as it didn't stop.
The place was tidy and the room comfortable, and we lodged in a separate building from the front desk, which worked fine. Breakfast was a basic buffet, but there were several Scottish options to pick from, so overall it was a nice stay. The only gripe was the headboard: the eco‑friendly faux leather was already worn and peeling, with little pieces falling onto us as we slept, which was quite unpleasant.
“Better than sleeping in our car”
The accommodation wasn’t pleasant at all. It was just mediocre.
Comfortable, handy to be staying above the bar and restaurant, and the included breakfast was excellent.

We stayed in the annex, which offered no view and left us a bit exhausted. We could hear people in the rooms next door and above, but the dinner and breakfast were enjoyable.
