We stayed for one night on a layover with our two kids, aged 10 and 12, and two dogs. We had booked a single room well in advance so the family could sleep together. When we arrived, the room we’d reserved was suddenly unavailable. The front‑desk gentleman offered us two rooms across the hall instead, claiming our kids were old enough to sleep separately without us. When I asked why our room was gone, he said it had been given to a family with younger children. We understand that overbooking or last‑minute issues can happen and were willing to cooperate, so we accepted the two rooms, each with one child. It wasn’t what we’d booked, but it worked for a single night. What really fell short was the communication and how we were treated afterward. Why wasn’t anyone called to explain the situation? Call us, explain the mistake, and ask if we’re willing to find a solution together. Instead, we only heard about it at the reception after a long trip and were left to deal with a pre‑made decision. When I said I didn’t appreciate being left in the dark, the staff member was very curt. He said he could cancel our booking or offer us the two rooms with a €30 discount. That was the most unpleasant part of the whole experience. We didn’t shout or demand an impossible fix.
