This is the second time I come to This beautiful boutique hotel. It is an Excellent place to unwind and enjoy nature. Nothing to complain!

Located in the rural village of Huai Sai, Mae Rim, Country Retreat features 20 km proximity to Chiang Mai city, surrounded by rice fields and nature. Bungalows offer air conditioning, front patios, and private bathrooms with showers. The property features an outdoor pool, on-site restaurant, bar, and free WiFi. Activities include fishing, hiking, and cooking lessons, with shuttle services, tours, and massages available upon request.

We loved the fantastic spot right in the middle of the rice fields—it felt intimate and cozy. When we tried to book a cooking workshop elsewhere it would have meant a long drive, so the owner offered to run it at her place, which turned out superb. However, two things annoyed us: halfway through our visit she asked for money again because her bank was down, which felt odd, and after we went back to the cottage she was at the door again within two minutes demanding cash. Also, the bar by the pool stayed open from 5 pm to 9 pm, yet the owner just sat there for the whole four hours even though no one was around, and she finished off the entire personal beer stock herself, which isn’t appropriate for a B&B owner. Despite those issues, the place remains fantastic.

The location among the rice paddies, the calm, a relaxing and restful spot with very good hospitality.

The food might look a bit too Western‑style; adding Thai dishes like khao tom would be nice. The nighttime lighting is very dim.
