The room was huge, fitting five beds so we could spread a suitcase on one of them; the lights were a bit dim but staying only one night made it tolerable, and the Wi‑Fi worked fine. In the morning we organized our own safari and they handed us a packed breakfast, then managed to squeeze in a shower before the 11 am checkout, and the hotel is just a short walk from Yala Park. The pool was an issue – it was green when we arrived, got treated that evening and looked blue the next day, yet we never got a chance to swim. We tried the $9 grilled chicken or fish dinner, which was tasty but overly spicy, and we did find a few insects and a gecko in the room, which we expected.

The property is about 15 minutes from the Yala Park entrance, and they arranged an early breakfast for our safari as agreed. On the first night we found four large insects in the room: two big cockroaches, a millipede, and a whip spider. Some insects are expected in the area, but four in one evening suggests the room isn’t being treated properly. The bigger issue was the safari we booked through the property for USD 135. The jeep was very old and the suspension was completely gone — we were thrown into the air at every bump for the entire drive, turning the morning into something we endured rather than enjoyed. Not seeing leopards or elephants is luck and we don’t blame anyone for that, but the condition of the vehicle is not luck. When I raised it, the owner replied that he would stop giving work to that jeep owner because guests complain about it. It seems the problem was already known while the safari was still being sold at full price. We paid everything in full at check‑out and asked for nothing back. I’m writing this so the next guests know to ask about the vehicle before booking.

The facility did not meet expectations: sheets had holes, the pool was poorly cleaned, there was no welcome, and the dinner was subpar.

The family room was very spacious, equipped with five separate single beds, and unlike some reviews the air‑conditioning performed well, complemented by two fans. The bathrooms of the two upstairs rooms share a wall and have roof openings, so you can hear each other, though the bedroom itself stays quiet. The bathroom is simple yet roomy, offers hot water, a separate toilet and plenty of storage, making it suitable for groups. The hotel sits on the road to the Yala entrance, a bit closer than Tissa. The pool water was murky and green, but we returned from the safari too late to take a dip.
