The Craigmyle Inn, three minutes’ walk from Craigdarroch Castle, blends with staircases and rooms, each with en‑suite bathrooms; some feature kitchenettes, cable TV, and castle views. Amenities include free Wi‑Fi, on‑site laundry, BBQ garden terrace, lounge, guest kitchen, and business centre with computers, printers, and free guests/Canada calls. Downtown Victoria, Jubilee Hospital (2 km) and University of Victoria (7 km) lie nearby.

The toilet and shower were on opposite sides of the room, and the shower area had no door, so if you’re sharing with someone who doesn’t want to see you showering, it’s not a great choice.

The hotel adds extra charm to a Victorian immersion from the last century; the common room is perfect for sipping tea and reading after a market day, slippers are provided, and the bedding is excellent. The only drawback, if there is one, is the lack of explicit information at check‑in: there’s a parking placard for street parking that we weren’t told about until the next day in a corner of the lobby, and the breakfast area would benefit from a brief explanation of the furnishings and contents, especially since there’s water, juices, etc., but you have to open the dining room items to see them.

The place is comfy, cosy, and extremely clean, and the location is great, but there are a lot of stairs; I’d like to request staying no higher than the first floor.

The location is great and not in the downtown area, and because I had a car, the distance from downtown wasn’t an issue; I didn’t try public transit from here. The room is big, clean, the neighbourhood is safe, parking is easy, and the staff were very helpful.
