Everyone on the staff was quick to respond, welcoming and respectful, even on the roof! The room was beautiful, well‑equipped and very clean – thank you very much. We will definitely return with pleasure! Nothing else to add.

The staff remained attentive and considerate throughout my stay, answering questions patiently and anticipating needs I hadn’t thought of. A highlight was the front desk checking in advance of my departure to arrange an airport shuttle and also pack a substantial breakfast for me, since the buffet would be closed. The hotel’s location offers a stunning ocean view and is close to the free public bus stop that serves all major sites in the eastern part of the island. Walking distance also covers the town, the prison, and the cemetery. If you need a ride, plenty of taxis are parked outside. The room was excellent and I missed no amenities. Check out the Sunset Lounge on the top level if you want a place to relax with a view (though you won’t actually see the sunset!). The biggest downside was the public announcement speakers outside the hotel, which started blasting messages and news at around 5.30am every day, disrupting my sleep each night.

The Secret is a lovely modern hotel in a prime spot, featuring a huge outdoor pool right across from the beach and within easy walking distance of the museum, the prison, and the cemetery. Numerous local restaurants are nearby, and a free “hop on hop off” bus runs all day, stopping near the hotel. The beds are very comfortable and the Wi‑Fi is fast and reliable. We took advantage of the inclusive airport shuttle, which was very efficient, and my daughter received a free room upgrade. The only drawback was the lack of a makeup mirror in the bathroom; using the single mirror over the washbasin was inconvenient. Although our balconies were large, none had furniture, which seemed to be the case for all balconies—people were expected to stand or bring their own furniture, a glaring omission. On the roof is the Sunset Bar, advertised as offering Happy Hour cocktails, wine, and beer from 5pm, but in reality only cocktails are available. The name suggests sunset views, yet a grey concrete wall surrounds the area, forcing guests to stand to see the sunset; we called it “The Berlin Wall.” Breakfast was heavily geared toward the Asian market, and the buffet was only available on weekends.
