I was impressed by the property's concept and the way it preserved the building's classical tradition, but the place needs a lot of maintenance—air conditioning isn’t working, the wiring is faulty, the rooms require extensive cleaning, and I experienced leaks during the rain.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel itself felt charming and peaceful. We had booked for four through a site that promised free children’s stays, yet on arrival there was only a double bed and we were asked to pay extra for mattresses—108 MYR each! That was frankly disgraceful.

A lovely place with really good food. Only a few minor issues: the sun loungers and pool need maintenance.

The place is overrated. The wooden structures are 80 % authentic but mixed with new additions, which breaks the vibe. The sheets feel coarse and aren’t soft against the skin. Mosquitoes are a problem at night, so you can’t really enjoy the evenings outside. It’s very quiet and far from any convenience store or kiosk. The creaky, potentially dangerous wooden walkways make it tough for westerners who want to explore, but it will disappoint those seeking comfort. Breakfast doesn’t match what they charge. Overall a letdown and overrated.

The cabins are pretty and breakfast is tasty. We went to this hotel just to see the fireflies, had sent several messages to arrange a river trip but got no replies; in the end we managed to do it even though only two of us were there and the minimum was four. The room felt like an oven when we arrived; it would have been nice if the air conditioner had been on a couple of hours before guests arrived. Mosquitoes came in from everywhere, but at least there was a mosquito net on the bed. The food, except for breakfast, was very average.
