The hotel was spotless; we skipped breakfast, but when I fetched coffee for my husband it was tasty, though the menu lacked sausage or bacon and only offered chicken, which is odd for a Texas hotel that usually serves biscuits, and the room felt cramped for the price.

I didn’t use the facilities, but I couldn’t leave quickly enough; my grandchildren weren’t allowed to swim, my pets were barred, and the hostess seemed intent on making my stay uncomfortable.
