Hotel Emmental, located in Thun's old town, dates back to 1898. Its sun terrace overlooks Thun Castle and surrounding mountains. The hotel offers free public WiFi, bright rooms with high ceilings and elegant furniture, and a cosy restaurant serving weekly changing European dishes. Ski regions Grindelwald, Gstaad, and Lenk are a 45-minute drive away.

The location is very close to the city center. The inn’s interior didn’t match the hotel’s name, but as a saloon we found it very original. Breakfast is served in the saloon, the restaurant, and it was very good. The staff were very customer‑oriented and extremely friendly. We couldn’t park bicycles directly at the hotel; behind the building there’s an outdoor option, but you have to go to a nearby supermarket’s underground garage—parking there isn’t possible. The price is at the upper end.

The rooms were beautifully and tastefully renovated, the breakfast was tasty, and the location was excellent.

The breakfast was very good and the location is central, right on the edge of the pedestrian zone.
