The location was super convenient, right next to a bus stop and a Michi no Eki for food and souvenirs; the host was friendly and ensured we had everything needed, and the self‑check‑in/out system worked well. The bathroom was spotless. However, the bedsheets had yellow stains, the windowsill was dirty with cobwebs, and my room had a strong, unpleasant wood smell that the AC couldn’t eliminate. The AC made noise at night, disrupting sleep. Some kitchen cabinets and drawers showed mold‑like brown stains, and the walls were thin enough that I could hear every footstep and conversation in the hallway and kitchen.

The location was spot‑on, the staff super helpful and the facilities solid, but the washer and dryer were a bit dirty.

The staff communicated well; when I missed the last bus I was soaked but they welcomed me with open arms, set up the bathroom and turned on the heating in my room, and the facilities were clean and functional. I was grateful for the washer and dryer, used them, and even left a small donation in the communal jar. They’re reachable anytime via WhatsApp or Line, and the place sits right next to a supermarket that sells a lot of food at half price late in the afternoon. The only downside was that I thought the main Kumano Kodo shrine was closer; it’s actually about 5 km, almost an hour on foot. I mention this because the bus stop is right beside the accommodation, which is great, but the bus only runs every 1 or 2 hours. It’s not the hotel’s fault, but I missed the bus because I got the number wrong and it was a disaster.

“Es UNA habitación con baño y ducha compartido”

It’s close to Hongu. I was misled by the listing—it seemed like a private house for us alone, but it’s actually one shared room with a shared bathroom and shower. It’s more than twice as expensive as any other similar accommodation I’ve found. The room is tiny, with a double bed pressed against the wall, and there’s no hand soap. Everything is audible, and there are no rules or quiet hours. The washer ran until 23:00 and started again at 05:00, caused by other guests, and it was noisy in front of us.
