“Friendly staff and central location, but does not match misleading staged photos.”
The hotel staff were warm and genuinely helpful throughout our stay. The hotel was within walking distance, up a steep hill, to the main town center. The daily breakfast was good, though much simpler than the lavish spread depicted online – think Cappy instead of fresh‑pressed juice. However, there were several areas where the hotel fell short. First, the staged photos on booking feel misleading; expect a plain, average hotel with a run‑down outdoor area rather than the boutique experience depicted. The online images rely heavily on staged setups – particularly the balloons, which cannot be seen from the hotel terraces in use. Pricing seems based on what is promised rather than what was actually delivered. Guests traveling with kids should also check with the hotel about the actual layout of the rooms – the superior king suite, listed as having a queen, twin and sofa bed with separate bedroom and living room, has a single room with a king‑sized bed and sofa bed. There are also some undisclosed mobility and access issues at the hotel: reaching breakfast required climbing four flights of steep outdoor stone steps, which was challenging for a member of our group recovering from a knee injury. These steps would also be slick and hazardous in rain or winter weather. The cobblestone road to the hotel is very steep and rough, not recommended for non‑AWD or in wet weather. There was an unplugged, unanchored AC unit sitting loosely on top of the room radiator, which I would expect a true boutique hotel to take care of. Also, family rooms lacked reading lamps, forcing us to choose between bright lights or total darkness – inconvenient when it’s time to put younger kids to bed.
