“If your an older man who wants to sit in the bar downstairs with all the young Thai girls listening to music thumping aw”
We booked for the day we wanted, but everything went wrong.
“Best value for the price!”
The place was spotless even though it looked a bit dated, and the staff were incredibly kind and friendly. A 7‑eleven, local restaurants, and a pharmacy were all under 100 m away, and downstairs there was a nice bar offering both western and Thai food. If you’re not a light sleeper, I’d still recommend this spot for its great value. The downside was the noise; the hotel sits right next to the track, but you can ask for a room on the other side.
“Rawai et ces plages sont idyllique, c’est fréquentation un peu moins.”
The beach is close and the center is nearby, making it ideal for forgetting nights spent in that hotel. However, the management was terrible: squatters and pimps roamed the hotel, the doors were split in half, blood was on the walls and floor. I stayed three nights, and on the second day at 6 a.m. I was woken by screams and shouting. I told my partner to stay in bed while I confronted the squatters; they shouted at me, then one apologized, saying he was sorry for the noise but that his friends had fought and used knives. It was terrifying to know that a fight with knives could happen next door. That same evening I returned to find a badly injured man lying on the floor outside the hotel, his head and torso open. I kicked him to move him, thinking I’d woken him, but he was still unconscious—just knocked out. I escorted him back to his room, but I doubt anything could be done at that point. This review is to discourage families and couples looking to save money by booking this place; you’ll pay for the money but also for the crackheads and Russian‑style kicks. Good luck to anyone who booked without reading this.
I don’t usually write reviews, but I felt the rating for this guesthouse was unfairly low. The value for money is excellent. Over a stay of just over two weeks I saw only positives: a large room, a huge comfortable bed, a big balcony with a table, chairs, and a dryer, cleanliness, convenient location on the main road—great for bikers touring the island. The staff were very pleasant and friendly, and every Monday evening a lovely Thai market opens right behind the building. Keep in mind that the first floor hosts a big bar, so there’s noise and music late into the night, which might not suit early sleepers.
“Uncomfortable”
Nothing positive to mention. The room was scorching hot even with the “aircon”, the balcony didn’t lock, the shower was weak, and the “reception” was a pub that feels uncomfortable for young travelers. I left early and checked into another hotel.
