Hotel Niihama Hills

Even though it was Golden Week, I managed to book a cheap rate and was satisfied; some of the online ratings gave me pause, yet once I arrived none of those issues bothered me and I enjoyed a comfortable stay. The only let‑down was at check‑in, where the previous guests were still being briefed and the staff wrapped things up with a curt “You already heard it, right?”—a brief comment would have been nicer.

The rate was cheap, and I could take the welcome drink back to my room and have refills, which was great. It was also very quiet. On the downside, there were no women‑focused toiletries like cleanser, face wash or toner, and the facilities felt dated; the bathtub looked shabby, so I had to clean it myself before using it.

I was really happy with how quiet the hotel was, but what really bugged me was that the room didn't have an automatic lock. The peaceful atmosphere was a big plus, but the lack of a secure locking system was a bit of a letdown. Overall, it was a decent stay, but the safety feature was something I'd expect from a hotel.

The hotel had its perks, like the free laundry service, which was a nice touch. However, the parking situation was a bit of a challenge - the entrance was really narrow and you had to squeeze in between the block walls, which was a bit nerve-wracking. Still, the convenience of the free laundry made up for the parking hassle.

The hotel's old equipment was a bit of a surprise, but at least it was well-maintained, which was a plus. The air conditioning was top-notch, and it made a huge difference in keeping the room cool and comfortable. On the other hand, the door lock was a bit concerning - it didn't feel super secure, but it didn't seem like a major issue either.
