Le Meridien Ile Maurice

The room was spacious and the beds were very comfortable. We had a room with a garden near the pool that offered beautiful views. All the staff were very friendly. However, the gastronomic offer does not match a five‑star hotel; the quality of the food and the service in the à‑la‑cart restaurants were somewhat poor, though breakfast was fine.

“Disappointing, wouldn’t recommend for a relaxing stay.”

The room was large and spacious, and the food and service at the restaurants Jade and Kumin were great. However, we arrived late in the evening and the check‑in process took almost an hour. Because we had no reservation, we couldn’t use any of the restaurants and missed dinner on our first night. Service at the Waves bar was poor. We asked to move rooms because ours was right outside the noisiest part of the resort, but the hotel couldn’t accommodate us due to high vacancy. The resort was too busy, so it wasn’t a relaxing or quiet experience—probably better suited to families with kids only.

The hotel is very welcoming, clean, and the rooms are spacious with a great ocean view from the balcony. There are plenty of activities for adults and kids; my 10‑year‑old especially enjoyed the kids club, and 'les copines' had many fun organized activities. The food was delicious, and there’s even a kids’ food station. We were well looked after, and the pool staff were very attentive, even cleaning my sunglasses. I loved the free champagne in the room, the hats, and the pareo—great attention to detail. We could hear senior staff scolding juniors during dinner, which wasn’t necessary since everyone was doing their best.

“Stunning hotel with excellent service, right on the beach with sunset views”

We had a brilliant time at Le Meridien for our honeymoon. We were there for 12 nights and barely left the premises. The hotel is stunning, particularly the lobby, and right on the beach facing the sunset. All rooms have a sea view and are spacious and contain everything you need. We arrived very early before check-in but were well looked after and they worked hard to give us access to the room several hours early. With four restaurants on site, there is plenty of choice and the food is generally very good. The breakfast buffet has endless choice and, as a coeliac (who can't eat gluten), buffets are notoriously tricky and inevitably some food won't be labelled properly. The help I got from the team there, and in particular Avish, was amazing - I was offered gluten free food made and prepared separately every morning, from pancakes to bacon/sausages to cereal. There were plenty of gluten free options at all of the restaurants. Our favourite restaurant was comfortably Waves. Excellent fish and seafood dishes only a few steps from the beach. The service from Nalini and Kelvin in particular was outstanding and you are truly made to feel like you are getting special treatment. The facilities are great - we went to the spa and played tennis, and there is a gym although we didn't make it there. The pool bar is well run by the always positive and helpful Hevin. The evening entertainment is fun and lively. Overall a fantastic experience. Overall we had a brilliant time and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, so these points are very minor. The shower was a bit run down and we had a leak (connected to the shower) in our ceiling. Though they attempted to fix this quickly, they needed to come back a second time. The wine tasting was a let down. It was all a bit awkward and the information we were given was quite basic. Some of the more junior members of staff can be error prone but the more senior staff will quickly fix things!
