The Clarendon Hotel

The staff were really nice and helpful, and I liked how comfortable the bed was; the continental breakfast offered a good variety of food. I would have preferred a separate shower from the bath, as my age makes me nervous about climbing in and out of the bath.

“Good hotel”

It would be nice if they served afternoon teas or sandwiches, or had a vending machine for snacks, because there were no snacks or tea available, unlike when I had stayed before.

The sea view was excellent, but there was no atmosphere.

“Old and in need of major renovations.”

The porter/receptionist/barman was really helpful and worried about me leaving my motorbike in the car park, so he let me securely store it in their delivery area, which I loved. The place looked like it had once been a top hotel, hosting weddings, conferences, functions and dinners, but most of those rooms now look like storage rooms; it feels tired and massively in need of renovations, with old and faded decor, yellowed white paintwork, and a ghost‑hotel vibe. The room was at least clean but needed decorating.
