“What Fabulous Place to Stay”
The host Janaka was incredibly welcoming, offering a cold juice right when we arrived. The property sits amid a forest teeming with birds, and the rooms are spacious, spotless, with comfortable beds and efficient air‑conditioning. They serve tasty homemade meals, cold drinks—including beer—and breakfast. If you’re in Mihintale, you’ll love staying here; and you should visit the Mihintale Temple complex in the late afternoon—just a five‑minute drive away—to catch sunset.
Our stay here was absolutely amazing. The place is beautiful and surrounded by real jungle, making the experience truly special. We could see and hear so many animals around us—it felt like being right in the middle of nature. The owner was extremely kind and welcoming. He prepared a delicious dinner for us, which was one of the best meals we had during our stay in Sri Lanka. At the end he also helped us arrange a driver with his friend, which made our next part of the trip very easy. We are very grateful for his help and hospitality. We truly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to experience the jungle and authentic Sri Lankan hospitality.
Met zorg gebouwde huisjes, schoon, rustig, heerlijke maaltijd en een vriendelijke gastheer. De bedden waren voor onze lange lijven een beetje aan de korte kant. De matrassen waren echter heerlijk!
“Lovely interesting stay, staff very kind people”
The owner and his son were very kind, warm, and pleasant. The room was cool and the setting was unique. We ate dinner with them, and the owner recommended a menu item that offered much better value than what we were planning to order, which we appreciated. Nothing else to note.

Great place, friendly host, good food, good location. You really feel like you’re in the jungle. We even saw a porcupine run past the supper time. Nothing negative.
