“Good location but defo needs improvements”

The place was convenient and close to the train station, making travel very easy. The bathroom had a bath with a shower and towels were provided, and plates, cutlery, and tea were also available. However, the bed was very uncomfortable and the bin in the room was extremely small. A large fan was positioned in front of the TV, even though it wasn’t particularly warm, and the clothes rail was behind the TV, making it impractical to use without blocking the screen. The stairs leading upstairs were very steep and felt quite unsafe. The biggest problem was the cleanliness of the oven; I cleaned it before using it, but it was extremely dirty, with old burnt food and grease inside. When we heated our pizza, the old food residue started burning and produced a strong unpleasant smell that affected the food. The oven really needs a thorough professional clean. Tea was provided but there was no sugar, and although the listing mentioned basic toiletries, we could not find any. We were also uncomfortable with the lack of privacy. At around 5–6 pm, someone in another room shouted through the wall asking us to be quiet because he was trying to watch TV. This was well before normal quiet hours. We could not tell whether this person was another guest or someone living at the property, but the situation made us feel uncomfortable and as though we had to be extremely quiet in our own room. Overall, the location was good, but the cleanliness, comfort, room layout and lack of privacy could definitely be improved.

“Very disappointing stay – misleading photos, missing advertised facilities and unacceptable cleanliness.”

The only thing I liked was the location. Unfortunately, I disliked almost everything else. The accommodation didn’t match the photos or description. Towels were advertised as provided, but none were there, and the room had no TV as shown in the listing. Cleanliness was completely unacceptable. There seemed to be blood on my duvet cover, though I didn’t photograph it. The bathroom was extremely dirty, with mould around the bath. I had to buy cleaning products and scrub the tub myself before I could shower, and even then it was impossible to clean properly. If you’re accepting paying guests, the property should at least be properly cleaned and hygienic before they arrive; guests shouldn’t be expected to stay in such unpleasant and unhygienic conditions. Another problem was the noise and strong cooking smells at night. A tenant on the ground floor cooked after midnight, and the smell spread through the whole house, strong enough to wake me up and make it hard to sleep. Overall, this stay was extremely disappointing and the property was nowhere near the standard I expected from the listing.

The place was dirty, the décor looked cheap, and there was no toilet paper. The room lacked a TV and any tea-making facilities, and a hairdryer was missing. Overall, it was a poor experience.

The staff showed up quickly after I called and helped with the issues right away, but messages sent through the app were answered only sporadically and they even gave me the wrong key code. The shared areas and their contents were cleaned lazily and looked partly unhygienic; when I arrived the smoke detector was beeping, there was no Wi‑Fi, and the TV only displayed “no signal”. One of the radiators in the room and the bathroom didn’t work, and the heating system lasted just two days before it had to be refilled. Many items listed in the property description were missing, and they claimed replacements could be brought after a phone request, citing defects, thefts and the fact that the place is cheap and not a hotel. They refused any goodwill when I asked to partially cancel one of the two rooms I booked for a seven‑day stay or to get a discount for the missing services and the unhygienic conditions, instead rejecting my complaints and demanding photo proof of the condition at arrival—yet there was no way to send the photos. I’d strongly advise against trusting the description; the “spartan double rooms” with shared kitchen, bathroom and lobby are all in poor condition and look worn out, and the customer service offered zero help or response.

The room was quiet and clean, but the smoke alarm in the ceiling had its wires exposed after removal, and no new alarm was installed.
