When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised to find a brand‑new pool that we enjoyed. We booked a safari through the owner at a reasonable price, and the organization worked out perfectly. If you’re afraid of monkeys and dogs, you shouldn’t stay there. The path from the main road is dark at night.

The fresh connection to nature and the new pool we opened were great, but the building was still under renovation so parts of the outside were a construction site. The breakfast went cold because the kitchen was temporarily unavailable, and there were plastic and trash littering the riverbanks.

I really enjoyed my stay at Wild River Side. The host was friendly and organized, and I’m grateful for the welcome drink, amazing breakfasts, and the well‑planned Safari where we were lucky enough to see elephants up close. The Elephant Transit Home is about 700‑750 meters from the lodge, which was a key reason for my trip to Udawalawa.

I was thoroughly impressed with the hotel's location, which offered a perfect blend of seclusion and convenience. The property itself was spotless, and our stay was incredibly relaxing. We enjoyed our time here and would definitely recommend it to others.
