“Introduction to Abidjan”
The newer hotel has working A/C, a clean room and bathroom, and security, but there’s no sign for the hotel. Just pull in where GPS takes you and the security will come out to get you—who were very nice, by the way. They helped me with my luggage, which I appreciated. I specifically stayed because the first review said the front desk spoke English (as the listing claimed). That wasn’t true, and I was overcharged 20,000 F. At breakfast I ordered coffee with cream, but he brought it without hot water and I couldn’t find him to get any, so I made it in the room after breakfast. Also while eating, a chair broke and I fell out of it—no, I’m not obese, the chair wasn’t put together well. I didn’t finish breakfast; I just left. What I had was good: the croissant and pineapple juice were fresh, and the omelet was fine. I think it has potential, but don’t advertise it as a bilingual property when no bilingual staff is available at all times. It’s in a residential area. My view looked straight into a family’s apartment with a crying infant, so I could hear the baby in my room without background noise. It’s nowhere near the tourist attractions or where tours are—just FYI. Cocody is a large city, and none of the sites that advise you to stay in Cocody clarify the area to stay in.
