“It is what it is.”

The place was in a perfect spot for what I needed, with plenty of parking. The bedding and towels were clean. The bed was lumpy, probably from the mattress topper, but it was tolerable. The male toilets were awful—leaking urinals, water on the floor, flaking paint, missing ceiling tiles, and a nasty smell. It’s clear the area needs investment; lorry drivers deserve better than this.

There were rats running in the ceiling, but the staff were friendly and the rooms stayed clean.

“If you’re desperate it’s just about ok.”

I was grateful to have a bed for the night when I couldn’t find anywhere else. However, there were no clear instructions on how to get to the room when I arrived. I only noticed the sign in the café window that said “ring Ash if checking in after 7pm” by chance. The parking lot was dark and full of huge puddles, with no guidance on how to register the car. A rat was running around the roof space, which was unsettling. The only real perk was the huge white towel for drying off after a cold shower if you’re brave enough.

The staff were good and very helpful in locating the hotel, but the room was much smaller than it appeared in the photos.
