The Sofia Hotel in Heraklion Town, Crete, is a short 5-minute bus ride from the city centre. This hotel features a seasonal outdoor pool, a seasonal restaurant serving breakfast, and fully refurbished rooms with free WiFi, balconies, air conditioning, LCD satellite TVs, and fridges. Guests can relax by the pool with sun loungers and enjoy a bar.

The breakfast was varied, awful, and plentiful. The location is great for the airport but not for the city centre. When the hotel parking is full, it’s hard to find a spot. Parking is difficult and the traffic overhead is constant throughout the day.

The location is spot on, and the bed and pillow were comfortable. The downside is the constant airport noise, a room that looks a bit dated, and a bathroom with spots that need a touch‑up. Breakfast was underwhelming, relying on vending machine coffee and juice, though the eggs and pastries were fresh.

The staff were absolutely excellent, the rooms were quite nice, and the shower in the family room was very good. The location is convenient with an easy bus ride to the city centre or a nearby beach. I wish the pool stayed open later, and some of the beds were a bit uncomfortable because they were quite hard, but otherwise there were no more complaints.
