This hotel is a solid example of the Highway 50 motor hotels: clean, well‑located, and in an iconic town.
“No room, no staff. A rip off.”
I arrived to find no staff present. The vacancy sign was lit, indicating they were open and taking reservations, yet I followed the posted instructions for after 10 pm and got nothing. I rang the bell dozens of times, made 8 calls that went unanswered, and each time was told I couldn’t leave a message. I had to book elsewhere. The next day I called to request a refund; no reply yet, though I was able to leave a message.

The front desk staff were friendly when I checked in, and the bed was comfortable, which was all I needed. The interior feels very dated and not in a “vintage” sense. The shower pressure was weak, and the water never warmed up even when I cranked it to hot. Because it sits right next to the highway, truck traffic was audible all night—bring earplugs or ask reception for some.
