“You simply cannot ask for more. A truly unforgettable stay.”
Palazzo Nobile di San Donato feels like a unique treasure, outstanding in every way. Its central position in the historic core feels almost magical, with the authentic Montepulciano vibe and classical music echoing through the streets. The room itself deserves at least two days to fully appreciate every detail, blending history, elegance, comfort, and personality so you feel like you’re in a private palazzo rather than a hotel. Breakfast is served in a lovely room with a breathtaking view, making each morning special. The staff are truly exceptional—attentive, warm, and always ready to help with dinner reservations, wine tastings, and local tips. Most of all, Palazzo Nobile di San Donato is one of those rare places you feel sad to leave; you have everything you could need, and the experience feels complete from start to finish. You simply can’t ask for more—an unforgettable stay.
“A 10/10 stay”
The site photos don’t do the location justice at all! The rooms were incredibly amazing, especially in that spot. The host was very welcoming and helped us with dinner reservations. Highly recommend! Nothing else to add.
“Special place to stay”
It’s just like the photos, a real unique stay in a palazzo. The room and the living room were both large with so many decorations and details. The staff were very lovely. The breakfast was very good: both help yourself yoghurt, cakes, biscuits and bread and freshly prepared cooked breakfast to order
“Lovely”
The hospitality was excellent, with a friendly and helpful host. Every morning, a lovely coffee and breakfast were provided. The historic charm and comfortable bed were great, and the location right at the entrance of historic Montepulciano made it easy to walk around town, enjoy a late dinner, and return to the room. The town’s very steep streets gave us a good workout each time we walked. The downside was that our standard double room was right off the main entrance, so we heard everything in the square—sometimes quiet, sometimes lively, and once we were up near midnight with karaoke outside our window, though that was only one night. It was the most expensive place we stayed in Italy, but the smallest, especially the bathroom, which was up a few stairs with a short entryway we had to duck through that wasn’t clear from booking photos. Knowing it’s a historic palazzo, the charm was preserved without many modern upgrades. We would stay again, but would book a valley‑view room, which seemed quieter and more spacious. At booking, it wasn’t clear from photos that our room would be right off the main entrance with no soundproofing and such a small bathroom. Still, a neat place to stay!
“Great location. Historic venue. Great hosts.”
The building dates to the 15th century and keeps many period features, giving a nice time‑travel feel. The room was clean, and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. Even though it’s on the ground floor next to a busy square, by 10 pm it was dark and peaceful, so we slept well. Breakfast was in a cosy room at the back. The lady who prepared breakfast and the gentleman at reception were both very personable and courteous. I’d stay here again.
