The mattress looked as if someone had been murdered on it, and the housekeeper's negligence—placing sheets on it and claiming it was clean—was unacceptable.

It was close to everything—food, shopping, and interstate access—but the place was completely infested with roaches. I kept everything clean and sprayed daily, yet from the tiniest to extra large, they were always present.

It was close to Wal‑Mart, but the front‑desk guy was an idiot who wouldn't help with anything. When I checked out two weeks early, I didn't get a refund; instead he kept me on the books, so even though I was back in my home state, I was still technically living there.
