Nestled in a tranquil, green residential district near Budapest’s university, Hotel Abel Pension offers a restored 1913 family villa with original antique furnishings and a historic drawing room equipped with TV and Hi‑Fi. The terrace, garden, and balcony rooms provide serene relaxation, while art by renowned Hungarian painters decorates the walls. Free Wi‑Fi, air‑conditioning, and proximity to Gellért, Rudas baths, and city centre make it uniquely convenient.

The pub next to the corner was a plus, but the overall vibe felt creepy, and the breakfast for two in the morning left us speechless; at 60€ a night it’s too much, this spot doesn’t deserve two stars, and we won’t return.

The hosts were very nice and helpful, the historic house felt cozy, breakfast offered all the basics—white bread, ham, cheese, yoghurt, muesli—though the location was a bit far from the main sights, public transport is nearby and fast. We could easily hear the next room’s neighbors talking.

It’s well connected to trams and buses, but the bed was extremely uncomfortable, the sheets had never been changed, the pillows were the same, there was no mini fridge, no safe, the air conditioning didn’t work, and the window had a broken mosquito net.

The building is vintage and visually appealing, located close to a tram stop in a quiet neighbourhood, and the owner greets you warmly. We stayed in the attic room, which offers great views and a breeze, but the furniture is dated, the stairs creak up, the porch garden looks untidy—probably because it’s autumn—and breakfast is the same every day, offering nothing new.
