The skate park next door with surf skates for rent, the nearby surf spot, the room tucked among rice paddies, and the discreet yet typical calls to prayer from surrounding mosques all add to the charm. The Wi‑Fi was only available inside the hotel entrance area, the neighborhood boiled down to a noisy street with few local restaurants, and the hotel restaurant gave no answer when I asked where the chicken was in my nasi goreng ayam—even though I speak Indonesian.

The view of the hills and paddy fields is great, and the Cimaja surfing beach is close enough to watch the big waves and surfers. The owner and staff are friendly, but the toilet flush still needs fixing.

The self‑standing bungalows surrounded by rice paddies keep you away from street noise, and the air‑con and balcony with a hammock are perfect for unwinding after surfing. The on‑site restaurant and bar serve good food and drinks, and the only suggestion is to bring a mosquito zapper.

The staff are helpful and pleasant, the cabins are spotless, and the boss is a respectful, kind person. The skatepark in the middle of the river draws a lot of young people and the vibe is great. Unfortunately the river that flows into the sea is very dirty, so the water quality at Cimaja is questionable. Thanks again to the team; hopefully one day, God willing, there will be waste treatment.
