“Beautiful place but the value we got didn't match the price tag.”
The design at Inness was really thoughtful and came across as more family‑friendly than expected; the staff were consistently friendly and helpful. The cabins were stylish, comfortable, and roomy, and if it had been a sunny summer weekend we’d have used the outdoor pools more. The restaurant stood out with excellent food, and I’ll definitely return for that. However, the rainy weekend didn’t live up to what we’d expect for the price: the grounds were muddy, cars were prohibited so we had to wait or walk in the rain to get to the restaurant, spa, and other spots. Only once did an empty car heading back to reception stop to ask if we needed a ride. A driver almost hit us while backing out of the driveway of the farmhouse without noticing us. The spa was nice, but the sauna was packed and the steam room was out of service. The main reason for staying was a golf weekend I gifted my partner; the course was in poor shape, and although we paid only a fraction of the fee, the lack of advance notice was frustrating given the long drive upstate and high nightly rates. The cabins aren’t fully separate, and we were assigned one next to a family with a baby and a dog in the connected section. We asked to move rooms because of poor soundproofing and rattling objects, but the transition was mishandled. We were told luggage would be moved and keys would work for the new cabin after dinner, but that didn’t happen. We had to wander back and forth in the dark and rain, and the new cabin had ants and a smelly toilet, though it was more private and had better soundproofing, even though the other side also had guests.
