The bed was comfortable with good linens, the shower worked well, there were plenty of sockets, and the response time for communication was impeccable. I didn’t have breakfast but it looked good, and the quiet location just across the bridges to Ortigia was great. The staff were charming and professional throughout, providing extensive information about the hotel and the suite I booked. A lift was very useful for moving luggage up and down the stairs. I received five or six invitations to accept the hotel’s valet parking service for €50 per day, yet I had no intention of using my car during my two‑night stay, and a €100 bill seemed a bit extreme (€40 car park fee, €60 for the valet, mmmm!). It felt a bit pushy and like an attempt to take advantage of guests nervous about parking near Ortigia. As a first‑time driver in Sicily, I found the recommended parking easy to locate and within a three‑minute walk, exactly as the hotel had told me. My suite was on two floors, with the bedroom upstairs, which was not what I expected and not ideal; the hotel had mentioned this on the site, but I didn’t read the details carefully enough. They had communicated this before my arrival, but after the free cancellation deal had expired. I was offered an alternate room without a balcony but chose to keep the balcony room, which was a mistake on my part because it was tiny and anyone with big feet would have trouble standing on it. These were minor issues but somewhat annoying.
