A very beautiful property ideally located in the historic and colonial area. The building is magnificent and full of history, and the renovation was done with great taste: the room is superb and the bathroom truly exceptional. The staff are also remarkable, very attentive and caring, making it a lovely address to explore the city. Unfortunately, the ground‑floor room has a window that opens directly onto an inner courtyard, making it nearly impossible to open the blinds while maintaining privacy, which means there is no real view and the room lacks natural light. The breakfast is also disappointing: it seems quite rushed and the quality is not up to par. It’s a shame, because the property has many other strengths.

Staying in one of the historic houses in the heart of the Colonial Zone gave us a truly different vibe from a regular hotel and was one of the highlights of our time in Santo Domingo; our house was gorgeous, beautifully decorated, the room spotless, the bed very comfortable with excellent linens, and the bathroom stood out with a great shower, high‑quality amenities and evident care in materials and details, while breakfast was delicious, the small private pool was a treat and cleverly integrated into the historic property, and a reception staff member was exceptionally kind and helpful, even assisting us with breakfast issues; however, despite the strong overall quality, the service and attention to small details fell short of the property’s level – one morning we waited about an hour for breakfast until the receptionist intervened, another time room service water never arrived, the private pool was dirty when we tried to use it, the advertised queen‑size bed felt too small for two people and a larger bed would have fit comfortably, yet none of these issues ruined our impression of the place, they are just execution flaws that could be easily fixed, and with more consistent service the experience could truly match the property’s potential.

“An entirely different property to the photos”

At over £700 for two nights, I expected a special birthday stay at a top‑tier property, but what I got was completely different. Just before arrival, I was told the property location was being “updated.” When I arrived, I was taken to a completely different place that looked nothing like the photos on the listing. What was different: a tiny pool instead of the main pool area shown in the photos; no bar or comparable facilities; heavily shaded throughout, none of the advertised atmosphere; the room looked nothing like the listing photos; hot water didn’t work properly. On top of that, I was incorrectly charged a second time for the full amount on arrival, after being told my original payment hadn’t gone through. It took until the next day—and proof of payment—to get the duplicate charge refunded. Stressful and unnecessary. When I raised concerns I was told the original property was under construction and no alternatives were available. The only resolution offered was a discount on a future stay, which I obviously won’t use. I did not receive the accommodation I paid for. If the listing photos don’t match the property, that’s misleading advertising. Save your money and book elsewhere.

“Exceptionally kind staff eg Luis & Ervin !”

The hotel is beautiful and calm even though the area is noisy. I’ve tried all the high‑end hotels in the area and this one is definitely the best so far.
