That night, the JR was out of service, so I couldn’t get into Sapporo. I ended up camping in front of Hakodate Station. I wish I’d been warned that the JR was out of service. I had told them I’d come on the express Hokuto into Sapporo.

Convenient because restaurants and a convenience store are close by. It would have been better if there had been a large public bath.

The place was clean and they upgraded me when rooms were available. There were a few hairs in the changing area and bathroom, a bit annoying, but only one or two so I guess it's okay.

I booked a non‑smoking room by mistake, so the staff swapped me to a different room the next day, but the new room still had cigarette smell and the linens were still scented.
