“Not as advertised”

One of the two long‑term residents was very friendly and welcoming, which made us feel more at ease. The property sits on a quiet side road with very little traffic, so the area is peaceful. The twin room was acceptable and clean, though I’d question having Barbie and Roblock duvets for two adults. Communication before arrival was very poor: I sent several messages asking how to check in but received no response, so I had to call the owner while standing outside the property to get the code for the key safe. The communal areas were not clean—there was a large mouldy, foul‑smelling pan left in the sink, rotten vegetables in the fridge, spoiled food in the cupboards, and black mould and heavy soap scum throughout the shower. The property is described as a clean, family‑friendly house, but that wasn’t our experience. The listing also mentions a terrace, but there isn’t one; the only “terrace” is that the property is a terraced house. Several advertised amenities were either unavailable or unusable. Toiletries and other items listed were not provided unless guests used those belonging to the current occupants (fortunately, we brought our own). We didn’t feel comfortable cooking because the kitchen utensils and equipment needed cleaning before use, yet there was no washing‑up liquid. Although a TV is provided, there are no available channels. Wi‑Fi is advertised, but the password supplied did not work. Overall, the listing contains a number of significant inaccuracies, and the cleanliness and communication fell well below expectations.
