The location was great with a nice view, a huge comfy bed, clean sheets, plenty of coat hangers (though a few more would help), a coffee machine that I didn’t use, and hot chocolate capsules would be nice. The room was spacious, had a steam‑free mirror, an iron and board in the wardrobe. However, the shower walls were mouldy, the bath was chipped, the sink overflow was filthy and black‑mouldy, and the shower screen was black‑mouldy. I had to request a hairdryer twice, there was no phone in the room to call reception, and the receptionists couldn’t find our booking on arrival. They asked for city tax when checking out even though we had paid it on arrival. No spare towels were in the cupboard as mentioned in the bathroom, there was a ridge on the carpet and a suspicious stain. The staff didn’t interact with us when we passed them going in or out of the hotel. It seemed our room was made available at check‑in, as we had to wait 15‑20 minutes for the senior receptionist to go into a back office before returning to say our room was ready. I didn’t use the restaurant, so I can’t comment on food or service.

The location was great, yet the facilities were disappointing for a hotel of this standard: we booked a double room for two guests, but only one dental kit was supplied. When I asked for another kit at reception, I received a toothbrush that had no protective packaging, raising hygiene concerns. No slippers were provided, so we had to walk barefoot in the bathroom, and complimentary bottled water was missing. The mattress springs were uncomfortable and could be felt through, causing back pain and making it hard to sleep. A decent mattress should be a basic expectation at any hotel, especially one of this standard.
